MOSCOW—On August 18, 2009, the Supreme Court of Russia issued a decision protecting freedom of religion. It upheld an earlier ruling by the Samara Regional Court that dismissed an application by the Tolyatti City Prosecutor to liquidate the Local Religious Organization (LRO) of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Mushfiq Mammadov, a conscientious objector to military service in Azerbaijan, has been detained for refusing to perform compulsory military service.
Initially, 64-year-old Ismael Villa didn’t think much of it when he began experiencing slight difficulty swallowing. The devout Jehovah’s Witness prayed it would pass, but in the coming months his symptoms progressed to include severe eye pain and ear aches.

Jehovah’s Witness leaders told Action 4 News that big conventions will be coming to a new facility going up in La Feria.
Jehovah’s Witnesses are launching a vigorous campaign to invite all to hear interesting discussions about the Bible’s description of what many people refer to as the end of the world. Witnesses are convinced that people will be intrigued and even encouraged by what will be presented at the 2009 “Keep on the Watch!” District Convention, to be held at the Northern Marianas High School Gym.
